My father was in the Air Force, so we moved around a lot.
After HS, I did a bit of college before starting my own company with two friends.
While doing this, I met my wife, and became an instant Dad. As of August '04,
my kids are ages 14 (boy), 11 (boy) and 7 (girl). In '97 I left RTD and did
some consulting for a brief period before taking a full time position with
Frontier Communications, which was purchased by Global Crossing Telecommunications
in 1999. I am currently Vice President of Network Architecture & Long Range Planning,
a sort of network technology strategy group. The position suits my creativity
and day dreamer profile very nicely.
I used to get in trouble for day dreaming when I was in
school. Perhaps it is rather ironic that the very thing that got me
in trouble then is part of what makes me well suited for a visionary role, or
perhaps there is no irony at all. Society has always rated hard work above
all else. How does that saying go? "Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration."
A visionary never get any credit until their visions become true, often
considered crack pots for their silly ideas. So anyway, I guess I am still
a day dreamer at large. Some things will never change.
