    To see Global Crossing become the major player in the telecommunications industry that I know it can be. After that, I'd like to spend quality time with my hobbies: cycling, golf, music, writing, and then enter the space industry.

     

    Experience

     

     

    Apr 1998 – Present        Global Crossing, Inc.                        Tucson, AZ

    Vice President, IP Engineering (Jul 2001 – Present)

    n     Responsibilities include IP hub, backbone and routing architecture, design & implementation, CapEx and OpEx budget planning, router configuration, traffic engineering peering, OSS development, and supporting systems platforms

    n     Managed through several reduction-in-force situations, cost reductions, and Chapter 11, while maintaining morale as well as increasing productivity, responsiveness, and efficiency

    n     Instituted asset management programs to efficiently utilize existing capital resources while maintaining network quality and service activation growth.

    n     Initiated industry leading network cost analysis models that improved the decision making process for CapEx spending.

    Director, Global Network Design (Apr 2000 – Jul 2001)

    n     Developed and managed $70MM 2000 annual network deployment budget.

    n     Extended US domestic IP backbone into Europe, South America, and Asia

    n     Developed a revolutionary method of network documentation featuring a database driven visual view of the production network s well as planned network augments

    n     Overhauled implementation process to include group project management tools that improved organization, project status reporting, and team performance results

    Manager, Network Architecture (Sep 1998 – Apr 2000)

    n     Developed and managed $25MM annual network deployment budget, and built team of engineers to specify and document desired network and hub augments.

    n     Specified and documented network and hub augments for the IP network.

    n     Advised NextGen router  vendor on details regarding product specifications and marketing issues.  Educated employees with a company-wide presentation on how their product would help NSP’s solve problems and save money

     

     

    Nov 1997 – Apr 1998    Siegel Internet Engineering                 Tucson, AZ

    Principle

    n     Developed IP traffic flow detail statistics collection and reporting system for Verio, Inc. utilizing Cisco Netflow, CEF accounting, IP accounting, and SNMP data.  System compared data against a current BGP table, and error corrected CEF and flow data to produce per-AS-path statistics for reporting on regular expressions.

    n     Founded small Unix and Network Consulting firm

    n     Launched Tucson’s first commercial dialup ISP

    n     Conceived of and set product requirements for UTA, User Tracking and Accounting professional software package.

    n     Involved in all areas of business, including network and Unix systems maintenance, accounting/bookkeeping, marketing/sales, and customer service/support, and legal.

    §      Evaluated the success of the NAPs in merging the Internet into a commercial, non-NSF funded entity, and suggested ways the NSF could better spend their money to support advanced network capabilities for research and education
